About

I am from Germany and I have background in Civil Engineering. I obtained a diploma (similar to master) from the Bauhaus University in Weimar. In 1996-97 I visited Chalmers to gain experience in another country. During the year I also took courses in acoustics and ... changed my mind about what I would like to work with in the future. I finished my visit at Chalmers with a diploma thesis about "Structural properties of organ pipes and their influence on the generated sound".

In 2001 I returned to Applied Acoustics, this time as a doctoral student, to continue with my research in musical acoustics. I defended the thesis at the end of 2006 and am now a happy PhD. I am still very interested in musical acoustics, especially modelling, measurements and documentation concerning all types of historic keyboard instruments.

Since the beginning of 2007 I am also involved in research concerning traffic noise and its just as exciting as research in musical acoustics.

Besides my research I enjoy photography and web-design. More about that soon on my own website (stay tuned - it should be up and running before the end of August).

Research

Musical acoustics: After a long time of promises I am now working hard to finish the site with animations and sounds from my thesis. Appologies for the delay. Things will be available in one or two weeks (counted from 2007-08-26).

Traffic noise: Currently I am working in the EU project CANTOR.

Teaching

I have been the co-ordinator for our master's programme in sound and vibration during the years 2002-2004.

I was further involved as lecturer and lab-assistant in the courses:
