Applied Acoustics : People : Recent Graduates : Penka Dinkova

Penka Dinkova is working at the research and development center at Volvo Cars AB in Göteborg since 2008.

About

I came to Chalmers year 2003 as a scholarship holder of The Swedish Institute to participate in the International Master Programme in Sound and Vibration. The study and the atmosphere at the department enlarged and enriched my idea of Applied Acoustics formed during my previous education at The Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. Here, a lot of dreams and beautiful friendships were born.

In the beginning of year 2004 my dream to become a PhD student in Acoustics became truth. I became a member of the Vibroacoustics research group headed by prof. Wolfgang Kropp. The object of my PhD study is vibration behavior of tires of heavy vehicles, particularly measurements and computational modeling. My work was paid by a project from the 6th research framework program of the EU commission - Integrated Tyre and Road Interaction (ITARI). This was a great possibility for me to get in contact with the project partners from Sweden, France, Germany and the Great Britain. A more detail description of my research you can find in my publications or in the World Wide Web.

I enjoyed being for a wile coordinator of the master programme, to get to know and to help the master students at the department between 2004 and 2007.

My teaching experience I gained in the department's laboratory, supervising students mainly in the field of Active Noise Control, but also in measurement techniques in the fields of room acoustics and vibrations.

I am thankful to the students and to the people working at the department for the chance to get to know them.

Now I am continuing my professional path working in the filed of noise and vibrations in the research and development center at Volvo Cars AB.

To be part of the department of Applied Acoustics was an honour for me!
